Is it Possible for Christian Schools to Grow in a Recession?

The answer should be a resounding ~Yes!

"But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you." Matthew 6:33

In light of our nation's economic times and upcoming changes in leadership, the Great Commission mandate to make disciples by Christian schools is extremely relevant. Christian schools cannot wait idly for difficult times to pass.  In a recent report, Crown Financial Ministries stated that America has had 11 recessions since 1930 with the average recession lasting 10 months and our two worst recessions lasting 16 months.  Yet, Christian schools must never recede in their calling to train up students/disciples that passionately love Christ with the wisdom of a Biblical worldview and academic excellence.

Christian schools that blame the economy for poor results must not be taken captive by such factors.  Rather, we have been given the Biblical imperative to take every thought captive and to make it obedient to Christ.  By God's grace and provisions, we have moved on from the terrorist attacks of 2001 and the "tanking" of the economy then.  The economy is no excuse for a weak Christian school ministry.  Such schools may very well be "Christian" schools that have not been fully seeking the heart and mind of God.   Furthermore, our Almighty God, who in actuality owns everything, has never experienced a recession nor is He currently in one.  He still endows us with His spiritual gifts of teaching, leadership, administration, giving etc., when we obey Him.

Today, Christian schools must engage in and with visionary leadership that not only practices good stewardship now but is building upon a foundation that will fully reach and serve even more students in the future.  Christian schools that thrive are never passive but always active despite the economic times.  As we intently seek God's will and godly wisdom, we will then have Christian schools that are not receding in their calling, visions and missions.

What Christian schools need in an economic downturn is to serve their students, families and community.  By God's grace, many Christian schools have even seen an increase in enrollment this school year.  This most likely can be attributed to doing things God's way and not worrying about the future.

Rather, this may very well be one of the most exciting times facing Christian school leaders.  The building up of excellent Christian schools that actively seek after the heart and mind of God is both exciting and demanding work.

The Imago Dei Group desires to partner with your school in these exciting times.  We are offering your school an extremely cost effective method of school consulting/marketing for enrollment (see sidebar).

Essentially, Christian school consulting is the short term hiring of wise counsel in an experienced, trained and gifted school leader.  Furthermore, such short term counsel may only consist of a day or two with your school leaders gleaning a vast array of insights and wisdom that otherwise would be overlooked.  Think of it as hiring a second administrator for a short term basis where you get to drain them of all their experiences, knowledge of best practices and cutting edge insights to grow your school at such a time as this.  For more information - contact the Imago Dei Group at: 912-656-7567 or explore our website at:  www.imagodeigroup.com

Enrollment Marketing for the Glory of God - Fulfilling the Great Commission and Covenantal Education through Christian Schools

The most recent U.S. Department of Education report found that 87% of all students attend public schools.  Correlating these numbers to Christian schools means that only 1 in 10 students from Christian homes attend a Christian school.

Furthermore, a 2006 major scientific poll commissioned by Answers in Genesis and conducted by the respected and prestigious America's Research Group found that 89% of students from families that attended an evangelical church were enrolled in public schools.

Initial conclusions and results have found that the students included in this survey no longer regularly attend any church.

Furthermore, these students from evangelical homes who attended public schools were deficient in their ability to articulate a Biblical worldview that embraces God's absolute and moral truths.  Their worldview was characterized as one of "humanism" or conformity to the world.

As Christian school leaders, we are doing a poor job in reaching Christian students and moreso their parents in covenantal education. Should government education be "discipling" these students when it is Christians who are responsible in training  children that hold true to Christ's Lordship in their lives, hearts and minds?

The Great Commission mandate not only includes evangelism but concludes with: "Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" ~ Jesus in Matthew 28:20.  Christ's treasures of wisdom and knowledge have been revealed  so that we can be and teach others to be transformed in Him.

The Imago Dei Group would like to offer your school an extremely cost effective approach to building the Kingdom and your school's enrollment.  This customized workshop is based on your school community's unique  demographics. The cost averages about 1/3 of the annual tuition for just one student.  By gaining just one student, this workshop more than pays for itself but moreso develops disciples in the truth, beauty and goodness of God.  To learn more or schedule this workshop, please click on this link Contact or call the Imago Dei Group at: 912-656-7567.
