 Best Practices and Viability ~
Does Your Christian School Have What it Takes for Long Term Sustainability?

Over the course of this recent summer along with the past school year, we have seen and learned of the hardships of many Christian schools.  Regrettably, many schools have experienced a drop in enrollment and more than a few have closed their doors for this fall.  Could such measures have been prevented?  With our God in whom all things are possible and wise counsel, Christian schools should always be proactively optimizing their ministry, vision and reach.
However, many of these schools deem wise counsel and insights regarding the best practices of highly effective Christian schools to be out of the question and unaffordable.  Recently, a colleague was leading a group of fellow Christian school administrators over a summer leadership conference.  He inquired what this group of Christian school administrators' perception was of Christian school consultants.  Unfortunately, their common perception was that a Christian school consultant was someone who showed up to your school, charged several hundred dollars a day to offer some ideas and lived a comfortable life without the pressures of daily  Christian school leadership.
Rather, we would like to correct this misperception in that a Christian school consultant serves fellow Christian school leaders in cutting edge insights, solutions and best practices.  Think of it as hiring a short-term/co-administrator to confidentially bring you up to speed in the best practices of the most effective Christian schools.  When the consulting is implemented, you should more than reap the consulting costs through growth and cost-effective best practices.
Furthermore, in addition to the sight visit is research and prep time along with travel time.  When the costs are scrutinized, a Christian school consultant actually makes less on a per diem basis than a full time administrator.  What drives us to be a Christian school consultants are the vision and passion to optimize many Christian schools in spiritual and academic excellence along with numerical growth.  Unfortunately, in light of such defective thinking, we stand by and observe far too many Christian schools that continue to drop in enrollment and/or encounter operational difficulties.
We have recently engaged in consulting with a Christian school that will see a modest increase in enrollment along and a cash surplus that is interested in further developing and maximizing their vision.  On the contrary, we have also tried to serve several schools that have waited too long and failed to recognize the benefit of proactive and wise counsel.
Furthermore, the Great Commission does not entail that our schools merely exist day to day with just the hope of finishing this upcoming school year with only some sense of order.
By God's grace, it is possible to finish the school year better than it starts.  By His wisdom and His will along in concert with proactive leadership and wise counsel, it is possible to sustain excitement and see growth this school year.  The love and mercy of our risen Lord Jesus Christ allows us to have the privilege to serve Him and our school communities by His grace in the transforming of minds, hearts, lives and schools in His absolute truths.
