The transition from the school year to summer break offers either the opportunity to wind down or recharge. This probably being the very case also in the churches that you attend and serve. On one hand, there is the scaling back of many programs to a less hectic schedule. Yet on the other, a wise ministry will take advantage of the new opportunities afforded in the summer to develop teaching and fellowship ministries that are uniquely suited to a summer recess.
So is it in our individual lives as Christians. We are now faced with the choices as to what would be the best stewardship of our time and lives this summer. As Christian school leaders, it is especially important that we invest our summer under the complete authority of the Lordship of Christ, a passionate fellowship with our personal God and encouragement of the Holy Spirit. Not only will our leadership be recharged, but we will have wisely spent our summer to reenergize personal lives and therefore our Christian school leadership for the future. Additionally, by taking our thoughts captive this summer, we will take on the heart and mind of God which may very well yield your most effective leadership as a Christian school leader.
Whether you are just glad that the past school year has wound down or are eagerly looking forward to the challenges of the upcoming school year, wise stewardship of our summer would call for us being both refreshed and recharged in the wisdom, understanding and rest of our Lord. Summer affords an excellent time for prayer and devotion in our desire to be transformed and renewed in the truths and attributes of God. Therefore, do not waste your summer, but bask in the intimate love and revealed truths of our Almighty, infinite and personal God.
