Are All Your Teachers Passionate About Christ, His Truths and Holding to a Solid Biblical Worldview? The answer must be a resounding ~Yes!
"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow & deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the the basic principles of this world rather than Christ." Colossians 2:8
In light of this scriptural admonition, Christian school leaders must find it imperative that their teachers and staff embrace this vital teaching. In these challenging times that we live, we can no longer be satisfied with schools that merely claim to be Christian but lack a demonstrated passion for Christ within a comprehensive Biblical worldview. Furthermore, it is not the Christian school that exhibits such passion, but its people - starting with the leadership and then the faculty.
As Christian school leaders, we are engaged in a changing society morally, politically and economically. Parents who choose to send their children to our Christian schools maintain exacting standards. No longer do parents desire nor can they afford to enroll their children in private schools where the teachers "happen" to be Christians.
Rather, both proactive as well as reactive Christian school leaders need to take complete measures that ensure their teachers not only profess Christ but embrace His absolute truths and love Him through their lives. Excellent teaching finds its fulfillment when teachers root and enhance their subject matter in God's absolute truths. Such teachers embrace and live a comprehensive Biblical worldview under Christ's Lordship. This method of teaching is referred to as "living curriculum".
Furthermore, when a student is fully trained, they will be like their teacher. Luke 6:40
As a Christian school leader, are you sure that all of your staff are truly living for Christ in heart, mind and action? Can you confidently call upon any or all of you teachers to articulate what makes up a solid Biblical and Christian worldview? Do your teachers passionately love Christ, seek God's absolute truths and the Lordship of Christ in the classroom? Furthermore, do your teachers live Christ-honoring and exemplary lives on campus, in the classroom and especially in the community that you can take Godly pride?
You can take effective steps to help as well as encourage your staff to perform at optimum levels for the glory of God. Transformed and renewed minds have been and always will be the hallmark of truly Christian schools.
As an instructional and organizational leader of a Christian school this may perhaps be the greatest area of responsibility as you set the spiritual and academic climate. Furthermore, as the instructional leader, the community measures you by the quality of the staff in the classroom and in their lives. As the organizational leader, you are responsible to the school board and community to run a school with excellent stewardship and quality results. As a child and servant of God, you desire to do everything to His glory.
Professional development of your staff and best practices for maintaining a quality school remain at the forefront of your objectives. Yet, the cost of teacher salaries makes up the greater part of your school's budget. The investment a school makes financially in its teachers will always be the most expensive part of running a Christian school. The Imago Dei Group would like to serve your school in ways to maximize this investment.
Ultimately, in a healthy Christian school community, minds and lives are continually renewed and transformed. While we would like to think this is what takes place with our students ~ it begins with Christian school leaders and in our teachers.
